Spain’s
Carlos Alcaraz was seen wearing interesting
equipment in his final training just before the start of his
ATP Finals campaign.
The mega-event, which is the last in the men’s tennis calendar, has begun on Sunday
in Turin, Italy where top eight players in men’s tennis are participating to
showcase their talent and secure the ultimate prize.
Alcaraz, who is set to begin his campaign, was seen wearing a
fuchsia nasal strip during his final training session ahead of the campaign, that is according to an English media outlet Daily Express.
The equipment is being used to improve breathing if someone’s nose was blocked.
The 21-year-old, who is already regarded as one of the best players currently
playing in men’s tennis in the singles category, will play his opening match of
the tournament against Norway’s Casper Ruud.
It will be the fifth meeting between the two. In the
previous four meetings, Alcaraz has a clear edge as he won on all four occasions.
Their most recent meeting was in the quarterfinal of the China Open where the
young Spaniard came out on top in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
Alcaraz is going through an impressive season. For the first
time in his career, the current world number three lifted two out of four Grand
Slams. He first won the French Open after beating world number two Germany’s Alexander
Zverev in the final in a five-set thriller with a score of 6–3, 2–6, 5–7, 6–1,
6–2. He then lifted the Wimbledon title after beating former world number one
Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic in the final in straight sets
with a score of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6. That’s not it, as Alcaraz also won a silver
medal for his country at the Paris Olympics. The four-time Grand Slam winner
ended up losing in the final of the singles category event to Djokovic in straight
sets with a score of 7-6, 7-6.
