The
ATP Race to Turin still has months left, but already there are certain players who have put themselves in a brilliant position to qualify for the ATP Finals, and others who have work to do.
Jannik Sinner was the champion in the recent
Rome Open. The latest Masters 1000 tournament leads to the Hamburg Open and Geneva Open, in which many top players are competing in getting ready for Roland Garros. One of these players is
Casper Ruud, who travels to Switzerland after having been the biggest winner in the ATP Race Rankings.
Sinner miles clear of chasing pack as Medvedev bolsters position
It seems like routine now Sinner winning these Masters 1000 titles. The Italian is on a roll, unstoppable on court. With no
Carlos Alcaraz, there seems like nothing can get in his way as he eyes up the chance to defend his ATP Finals title in November. It seems almost certain that he will be there. Over 2000 points the gap is to him and Alcaraz in second. This is likely to extend at Roland Garris with Alcaraz still suffering from a wrist injury.
Alexander Zverev pulled out of the Hamburg Open on home soil after suffering a hugely disappointing conclusion in the Rome Open. He is closing in on the dormant Alcaraz as he see the gap behind him shrink.
That is thanks to another deep run by
Daniil Medvedev. The man who began his clay swing with a double-bagel defeat to the hands of Matteo Berrettini in the Monte-Carlo Masters pushed Sinner in the semi-final of the Rome Open. It is hard to predict what Medvedev is going to turn up on a daily basis, but the deep runs he has enjoyed has secured him fourth in the standings. He qualified for the ATP Finals six times on the spin until failing to do so last year.
Arthur Fils drops down a position after his injury scare. Munich Open champion Ben Shelton has recently got his first win on clay since that title win. A brace of second round exits in the second round of Madrid and Rome have not proved to be too costly in this moment in time with his position in the top eight still secure. Novak Djokovic made a very brief return to action, losing at the first hurdle but still remaining in seventh thanks to that Australian Open final run.
Casper Ruud reached the final in the Rome Open 2026
Ruud storms up the order
The big climber at the forefront of the order is Ruud. He made significant progress in Madrid after reaching the quarter-final stage. That was backed up with a hugely impressive run to the final, signalling a return to form. He shoots up from 27th to eighth, level on points with Alex de Minaur.
Flavio Cobolli caps off the top 10 with fellow countryman Luciano Darderi coming off the back of a semi-final in his home tournament. He rises nine spots into 11th. Jiri Lehecka can be found in 12th with Felix Auger-Aliassime falling three positions to 13th. His fast start to the season feels like a long time ago with work to do for the Canadian.
The rise of Rafael Jodar continues. From being relatively unknown at the start of 2026, he is now 16th in the ATP Race to Turin, an incredible achievement from the 19-year-old who is touted by many to continue his imperious rise up the order.
While some rise, others struggle. Lorenzo Musetti's continuous battle with injury has hampered his chances of qualifying for Turin for the second year in a row. Taylor Fritz also needs to get some points on the board. In 27th, he is set to make his return to the ATP Tour at the Geneva Open.
