After tournaments in Barcelona and Belgrade, a few noticeable changes were made in the new edition of the ATP Rankings as Rafael Nadal moved back to no. 2.
A few weeks earlier, Daniil Medvedev became the first other player than Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Andy Murray after more than 15 years to be in the Top-2 of the ATP Rankings. Now, after his triumph at the 2021 Barcelona Open, Rafael Nadal is second again.
The Spaniard surpassed Medvedev by 110 points and he should not lose his advantage during the clay-court season as that's where he's the strongest and on the other hand it's one of the few weaknesses of Medvedev. But there were a few more changes in the rankings worth mentioning.
Despite his triumph in Belgrade, Matteo Berrettini didn't move from 10th place, but he strengthened his position as Pablo Carreno-Busta moved already to no. 12 surpassing David Goffin who is now 13th.
Young Italian star, Jannik Sinner moved by another place to already 19th place of the ATP Rankings and Aslan Karatsev reached his new career-high as well. The Russian is ranked 27th but what is more important both players are in the Top 8 of the ATP Race to Torino.
Stefanos Tsitsipas leads the 2021 ATP Race with Andrey Rublev close behind him. The 2021 Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic is 3rd and the Russian duo Daniil Medvedev and Aslan Karatsev are fourth and fifth. At this moment, the last three players advancing would be Hubert Hurkacz, Jannik Sinner and Rafael Nadal who is just 15 points ahead of the 9th Alexander Zverev.
