Carlos Alcaraz has set his course to
Roland Garros with the Spaniard set to practice with a racquet for the first time since his injury against Andrey Rublev was thus that he had to withdraw from the Rome Open.
Alcaraz as evidenced through videos on his social media has not stopped working keeping his fitness ticking over as he aims to reach his peak for the clay court Grand Slam. He has carried out recovery work with his physiotherapist Juanjo Moreno as well as working with his fitness coach Alberto Lledo. As per Marca, he will pick up a racquet again on Monday.
It will be the first time in 12 days he will play on the court as he looks to ramp up his preparation after a forearm injury has blighted him since a successful Sunshine Double. It has seen the Spaniard go from winning a first title since Wimbledon at Indian Wells to worrying if he would even play at Roland Garros. He had to withdraw from Monte-Carlo with the issue and only played Madrid in which he lost in the Quarter-Finals to Andrey Rublev.
He will currently be third seed for the
French Open with the only chance to go up presented if Jannik Sinner decides to withdraw with his hip injury which like Alcaraz is forcing treatment and a race against time.
