Ben Shelton on the ATP side and Daria Saville on the WTA side improved their ranking the most in the previous 12 months as both are set to finish the year in the top 100.
Saville was a very good player back in the day and being away from the sport did not change that as the Australian was able to catch up rather quickly. She started posting good results early in the year and it continued up until the WTA event in Japan when she injured her knee. It's not clear when she'll be back to tennis as it is a tricky injury.
It's a shame really because she was really playing well at the time of her injury. At the start of the year, Saville was 419th and she climbed up to 53 (+366). There are plenty of other players who improve much as well with Ye jumping 238 spots, Noskova jumping 226, Fruhvirtova jumping 218 and Maria 211.
On the men's side, we had Ben Shelton who proved far more than just a college player this year. Using his chances to play with the pros, Shelton was able to finish the year strongly on the challenger Tour securing a top 100 debut. He started the year as number 568th but improved to number 97. That's a jump of 471 spots.
Other ATP players that jumped highly this year include Draper who improved 217 spots, Pedro Cachin who jumped 201, Tseng who jumped 164, Borges 163 etc.
