The ATP 250 Kitzbuhel has confirmed the players who will compete in the tournament the week following the
Olympic Games, with
Casper Ruud leading the pack. The tournament will feature
Dominic Thiem, current champion
Sebastian Baez, and
Nicolas Jarry among its top players.
The Olympic Games will take place just after the Grass season following the conclusion of Wimbledon in Paris, on the clay courts of Roland Garros, allowing players to arrive accustomed to the clay surface without having to quickly change surfaces.
Ruud clinched the Kitzbuhel title in 2021 by defeating Pedro Martinez in the final in three sets. The Norwegian will be the top seed and currently the only top-10 player set to compete immediately after the Olympic Games.
The three-time Grand Slam finalist concluded his Sunshine Double campaign with some solid performances, although he did not reach the final stages of the tournaments. At Indian Wells, he reached the quarterfinals, securing three consecutive victories before falling to the 17th seed, Tommy Paul, in three sets.
Later, at the Miami Open, he only reached the round of 16 and was defeated by the 22nd seed, Nicolas Jarry, who has been on a good streak in his recent tournaments.
