"The Drake Curse"? Rapper bets big on Fritz to take US Open title against Sinner

Drake makes a big bet on Taylor Fritz to win the US Open title. The 27-year-old
American will face World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the final, who is aiming for
his second Grand Slam title of the season.
Sinner is
the favourite, but expectations are high for Fritz, especially as he is the
first American to reach the final since Andy Roddick in 2006, when he lost to
Roger Federer. To find the last local champion, we need to go back to 2003 when
Andy Roddick defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero (current coach of Carlos Alcaraz) in
the final.
Drake wagers big on Taylor Fritz for US Open victory
One of
Fritz's supporters is singer Drake, who has made a huge bet in favour of the
World No. 12. The Canadian rapper wagered $210,000, or around £160,000, on
Fritz to win the title. He posted a screenshot on Instagram showing his bet,
which, if successful, will net him $800,500 (£616,000).

losses," he wrote on his story, adding a few laughing emojis. "Going
underdog @stake."
However,
Drake doesn't have the best track record when it comes to betting. In fact,
most of his public bets have not panned out, and he's been nicknamed "the
Drake curse" due to his failed predictions.
Drake bets
on different sports and has lost large sums of money. One of his biggest losses
came at UFC 281, where he lost nearly £1.24 million after betting on Israel
Adesanya, who was knocked out by Alex Pereira. He also lost £400,000 and
£347,000 after betting on Adesanya again at UFC 293 and UFC 305.
He also bet
on Argentina to beat France in the 2022 Qatar World Cup final. The Canadian’s
bet required Argentina to win within the first 90 minutes, but they needed
extra time to secure the victory, leading to a loss of more than £800,000.

This 'article' may be informative for newbies or fair-weather tennis observers but the majority of fans know the root of the multiple issues within WTA. The #1 issue being the subject of health & well-being which has been (or has attempted to be) addressed with the WTA Elitist council members last season. WTA was extremely dismissive of players' concerns and opposed to such a meeting. Eventually giving-in due to publicity and allowed selective players only -- no rep's, no medical personnel, and no team members. The meeting was a farce as WTA soon after that released an even more hectic schedule... with mandatory tourneys! Guess they weren't taking notes?? BTW: There is a lot missing from this piece concerning "withdrawals". No writer has yet taken the jump to get behind the scenes and dig at the problems -- obvious organizational problems. IMO, the top two issues are WTA's lack of proper attention to health & well-being of its Money-Makers; and Financial Greed. Tip to Mr. Lloyd: there is no "snubbing" when these players withdraw. These women have to take such measures as withdrawing from a tourney, and occasional time-off from the circuit, to protect themselves -- because WTA refuses to take any measures at all (although not allowing matches until sunrise is a start).
