Predictions Hamburg Open
Samuel Gill, Head Editor for TennisUpToDate.com sees Joao Fonseca as the champion.
Joao Fonseca in my view will be the champion in Hamburg as he heads towards Roland Garros. That is a mere hunch and I see the likes of Brandon Nakashima, Ugo Humbert, Denis Shapovalov and Sebastian Korda being up there.
I also pick Jakub Mensik and Valentin Vacherot being up there in what is a stacked field that also includes Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton.

Joao Fonseca wins the Swiss Indoors
Cristhian Avila, Editor for TennisUpToDate.com sees Zverev sealing the win.
The immense favourite will undoubtedly be Alexander Zverev – who as the top-ranked player and with home support on his side, has an ideal tournament to lift a trophy before Roland Garros. He will have interesting contenders, and although many will have their focus more on the French Open, the surface specialists know that the week before a Grand Slam is an ideal option to produce a surprise.
The Italian Flavio Cobolli and the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo are names that must be considered for deep runs in Hamburg, as well as young Joao Fonseca – after an irregular clay swing, but who could correct the course just before the second major of the year.

While Lucas Michael, Editor for TennisUpToDate.com sees Cobolli sealing the title instead.
Half of the top 20 ranked players in the world are set to descend upon the clay courts in Hamburg. All the eyes will be diverted to the home favourite Alexander Zverev. He won the title in 2023 and will be dearly hoping to get back on track a week before his quest for a maiden Grand Slam title starts up once more.
This tournament is a good chance to give players some momentum heading into the second major tournament of the season. Ben Shelton and Felix Auger-Aliassime will be outsiders for the title in Paris, but very much in contention in Hamburg. Shelton catches my eye the most. After triumphing in Munich, he has got nothing going in Madrid or Rome. Whether this poor form prolongs could be detrimental for the rest of his clay swing.
The Italian contingent is very strong. Reigning champion Flavio Cobolli lost in that Munich final. He has a lot of points on the line to defend with fellow countryman Luciano Darderi coming off the back of a wonderful tournament in Rome full of confidence. Whether he turns up is a different story after playing a lot of tennis.
Jiri Lehecka, Valentin Vacherot and Francisco Cerundolo are all skilled operators on the dirt and will prove to be tough to beat. In my eyes, there is a very sturdy argument for a number of players to win this title. Pushed for an answer, I would hedge my bets with Cobolli to defend his title.
