Alexander Zverev had little difficulty in his opening round match at the 2020
Paris Masters, as he swept past Miomir Kecmanovic to advance to the third round.
The World No.7 required just 55 minutes to dispatch of Kecmanovic, securing a very convincing 6-2 6-2 victory. Zverev is hoping to follow in his coach David Ferrer's footsteps, as the retired Spaniard surprised everyone when he lifted the Paris Masters trophy in 2012.
“David has great memories of this tournament,” said Zverev after his match. “I hope I can do the same thing he did in 2012. We will see how it goes.”
The 23-year old has amassed an impressive nine-match winning streak, following back-to-back indoor titles in Cologne last month. Furthermore, he improves to 24-8 in matches this year as he continues his solid indoor run.
Awaiting the fourth seed in the third round is Adrian Mannarino, who advanced after a 6-3 6-7(5) 6-3 victory over Yoshihito Nishioka. Zverev leads the Frenchman 4-0 in career meetings, with their most recent resulting in a three-set victory for the German in Cologne last month.
