"I met the Duchess and I was definitely starstruck" - says Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu is experiencing her first full season as a pro and she remembered this year with a photo dump on social media showing her out and about around the world.

The British player is currently in Washington getting ready to compete at the Citi Open event where she hopes to build some confidence for a pivotal part of the season for her. The vast majority of her rankings points come from the US Open as she needs to gain some points in case she loses early in the event. The last thing she needs is a big drop in the rankings.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Raducanu underlined her goals moving forward:

“My goal would be towards consistency. But equally, I’m going to try and cut myself some slack. I’m young and I have achieved something great. I think I should step back and enjoy it.”

It's not too different from what Raducanu has talked about since winning the US Open but naturally, fans and the media have put a lot of pressure on Raducanu to keep winning which was always unrealistic. Many former pros warned about her incoming struggles and they were right.

She also touched upon meeting a lot of cool people during her travels but the Royals stole the show in that department:

"I’ve met some really cool people, but when I met the duchess I was definitely [starstruck]. I could stare at her all day. Just watch her talk, watch her do everything. And also the Queen. I got a letter from her. That was a pretty starstruck moment.”
