"It set him back" - Ivanisevic points to Roland Garros final loss as culprit behind Tsitsipas early exit

Stefanos Tsitsipas suffered a humbling defeat to Holger Rune in the 4th round of Roland Garros and Ivanisevic understands why it happened.

Speaking following the match, Djokovic's coach explained that Tsitsipas looked very odd and nervous since coming back to Paris despite claiming the loss in the final is behind him:

"I have seen him very nervous since the beginning of this tournament. It may be strange, but that match last year against Nole set him back. I watched him, he’s very nervous, he argues a lot with his mom and dad. It’s not the same Tsitsipas from last year who was more focused, he knew what he was doing and he knew how to play.”

It's a shame for Ivanisevic because he really likes Tsitsipas a player. He can also understand how troubling it can be as he lost at Wimbledon twice in the final before finally getting it in a fairytale run in 2001. He said:

“I love him very much as a tennis player and I want him to make a comeback as soon as possible. I think he can do it."
