Jack Sock, who received a doubles wild card to the #USOpen, looks like will switch to Pickleball…
America’s Jack Sock is set join pickleball after announcing retirement from professional tennis.
The 30-year-old announced on Sunday that he will quit professional tennis after the end of the US Open where he is participating in the doubles category, along side John Isner.
In a post on social media, it was revealed that Sock is now set to switch to pickleball, much to the surprise of the fans.
The Lincoln-born will end his career with just four career titles to his name in the singles category. His record in the Grand Slams remains pretty average as well.
His best outing in the mega-events was reaching the fourth round of the French Open and US Open — in 2015 and 2016.
However, his record in the doubles category was indeed an impressive one where he won three Grand Slam titles.
In the 2014 Wimbledon final, Sock along with Canada’s Vasek Pospisil defeated America’s Bryan Brothers with a score of 7–6(7–5), 6–7(3–7), 6–4, 3–6, 7–5.
Four years later in London, he along with Mike Bryan defeated South Africa’s Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus with a score of 6–3, 6–7(7–9), 6–3, 5–7, 7–5 to lift his second Wimbledon doubles title.
In the US Open later that year, Sock and Bryan defeated Poland’s Lukasz Kubot and Brazil’s Marcelo Melo with a score of 6-3, 6-1.
