Fans of Novak Djokovic have been left outraged by a recent poster for the US Open which begins in New York today, August 28.
The last Grand Slam of the year is set to get underway this week, with 23-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic back for the first time in two years after his unvaccinated status barred him from entering the US for the 2022 Slam.
Therefore, many fans are hoping for another thrilling match between the Serb and world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, who is the defending champion of the major at Flushing Meadows.

US Open shares poster of top-ranked players

The controversy began over a poster released to promote the US Open which featured a lot of the top-ranked players. These included Djokovic, as well as Venus Williams, Aryna Sabalenka, Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, Andy Murray, Casper Ruud, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Ons Jabeur, and several wheelchair tennis players.
However, the defending champions of the men's and women's singles event, those being Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek, are given pride of place in the poster, with their pictures larger than anyone else's and firmly in the center.
The US Open account on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared the poster with the caption:
"For all the marbles."

Fans outraged by Alcaraz focus on poster

This focus on the two-time Grand Slam champion over Djokovic has caused some tennis fans to express their anger.
"Do you guys always do this on purpose? That is a disrespectful image to Djokovic," wrote one.
However, they also suggested that Djokovic himself would not be too bothered by the poster prioritizing Alcaraz and would instead be happy to see wheelchair tennis being promoted.
"But he'll instead be pleased to see wheelchair players in the poster," they continued.
Nevertheless, the outrage over the poster continued among other fans.
"A lot of 'mistakes' in this poster. First one, Novak Djokovic, so small (23 GS and 3 US Open, N2, next N1 maybe, GOAT), the same size than Ruud ; Sabalenka, smaller than Venus Williams,...I could go on but I'm tired. And tired of disrespectful stuff like this," commented another.
"Novak, Murray, Venus - all much smaller than lil' crampion Alcaraz... Could there be some sort of agenda here," added a third.
