Matteo Berrettini pulls out of Paris Masters after injury scare in Vienna

Matteo Berrettini will not take part in the Paris Masters event next after experiencing some neck stiffness in Vienna.
The Italian returned to the courts in Vienna where he played some solid tennis overall before getting beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinal. The Italian revealed after the loss that he suffered from a stiff neck which prompted him to consult himself with his team and doctors. Upon doing that Berrettini officially withdrew from the Paris Masters mainly as a precaution.
The Italian qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin and that event is his priority for the rest of the 2021 season. He cited the desire to play in the first ATP Finals held in Italy where he could be one of two Italians playing (Sinner). The announcement and explanation was posted to his official Instagram page. He wrote in a story:
“I have had some stiffness in my neck over the last few days so have decided to withdraw from Paris Bercy. I would like to make sure I am 100% ready to compete in Torino for the ATP Finals. Thanks for all the support and see you in Torino.
So far this year, Berrettini boasts a record of 39 wins and 10 losses and has two titles to his name at Queens and in Belgrade on the clay.
