After over 15 years at the top of tennis, the next step of
Roger Federer in his illustrious career was highly touted even before he stopped play.
Federer was heavily mooted to go along the similar route of John McEnroe and Boris Becker and do punditry and commentary.
So much so that he was being lined up for a role with the BBC even before he finished with many sources saying he was in advanced talks.
That wasn't to be when the BBC team was confirmed with Federer denying the rumours and while not ever ruling it out, he said he may never commentate.
"First I thought it would be cool to comment on matches of the generation of players I played against. I know them best. But becoming a commentator in the year after my retirement didn't feel right. Maybe I will commentate one day, maybe never," said Federer.
Enjoying being away from the court, Federer has been allowed to resume activities he loves in retirement including skiing which he hadn't done for around 15 years.
This being mainly as well due to becoming a father so restricting him from doing so alongside tour life.
"Skiing was a big thing for me. The last time I skied was in 2008, after which I got mono. The following year, the children were born. They had never seen me ski. It was a dream for me to go on the slopes with them."
