The
Mexican Open also known as Abierto Mexicano Telcel which takes place in Acapulco between 23-28 February and is one of the main cornerstones of the South American Golden Swing.
Alexander Zverev, Lorenzo Musetti, Alex de Minaur, Ben Shelton and Casper Ruud will lead the line in a top line-up for an ATP 500 tournament. Tomas Machac won the title last year.
Machac defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina last year 7-6, 6-2 in the final in a tournament which was ironically brought to infamy in 2025 due to a vomiting bug and illness that took most of the field out.
It is the 33rd edition of the men's tournament and takes place at the Arena GNP Seguros and takes place on the same week as
Dubai.

Predictions Mexican Open 2026
Samuel Gill, Head Editor for TennisUpToDate.com sees Lorenzo Musetti cracking the code.
Lorenzo Musetti for me will finally break his duck of being a champion again. Alexander Zverev often struggles in the Golden Swing so I don't see him figuring.
While I see other top names including Ben Shelton, Casper Ruud and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina figuring well. As well as Valentin Vacherot as well.
Acapulco is a bit of a conundrum given its different conditions so the champion is very much always up for debate.
*** Lorenzo Musetti
** Ben Shelton, Casper Ruud
* Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Valentin Vacherot
Lorenzo Musetti to crack the code?
Lucas Michael, Editor for TennisUpToDate.com sees Alex de Minaur as the winner in Acapulco.
The ATP 500 events continue to come for the players, this time taking them around the world to Acapulco this time for the Mexican Open.
Four of the top 10 are currently registered to compete with all their sights firmly set on the title. None more than Alexander Zverev who will be fresh and raring to go after taking a break after a promising Australian Open campaign. He will be the one to beat but will face stiff resistance in Central America.
The returning Lorenzo Musetti was also taking some time off but this time not by choice with injury holding him back. He is targeting a first title since 2022. Quite the contrast compared to Alex de Minaur and Ben Shelton who are respectively coming off title triumphs in Rotterdam and Dallas. Their red-hot form will make them worthy challengers.
It will be interesting to see how Casper Ruud fairs. After becoming a dad for the first time he has not prioritised the sport but will be hoping to get back on court and quickly in the swing of things.
As of outsiders to the title, the likes of Cameron Norrie or Frances Tiafoe could have a role to play but my focus is firmly on the top four. We had three ATP finals where the top two seeds clash, but this time I do not believe that will occur. I am going to hedge my bets and put forward de Minaur to clinch a second title in 2026.

** Ben Shelton, Alexander Zverev
