Rafael Nadal and Taylor Fritz will meet in the final at the 2020 Abierto Mexicano in Acapulco after stunning semifinal clashes.
The power-hitting
Taylor Fritz met another ace machine,
John Isner in the first semifinal match. On the other hand,
world number 2,
Rafael Nadal faced
Grigor Dimitrov in the second.
In the match between two tall Americans, we could see a total number of 28 aces when Fritz hit 15 and Isner 13. However, in the first set, it looked like it is going to be Isner's domination through the match. He managed to break the first two Fritz's service games and win the first set comfortably 6-2.
Isner had also 4-2 40-0 lead in the second set but he completely wasted it. Fritz broke his service twice and won the second set 7-5. In the third set, we have seen only one breakpoint which Taylor converted to later win the set 6-3.
Rafael Nadal is having a stunning form in Acapulco when he did not lose a set at Abierto Mexicano so far. A person that could change it was the seventh-seeded Grigor Dimitrov. And for a second it seemed like it can come true when the Bulgarian broke Nadal's serve in the first set to gain 2-1 lead.
However, the Spaniard got his service immediately back and added another break to win the first set 6-3. Dimitrov broke Nadal first in the second set as well. But the Spaniard once again broke back, three times now, to win the set 6-2 and set up a final clash against Fritz.
