Alexander Zverev is on the verge of an important win for Germany in their tie against China but hawkeye striked again with play suspended for a bizarre reason during his match against Zhizhen Zhang.
Zverev was on serve at 2-0 in the second set before the system failed on the electronic line calling in a pretty embarrassing train of events. The World No.2 and the Chinese No.1 had to sit down and wait for 10 minutes while it was sorted.
Albeit it didn't disrupt Zverev's rhythm too much. He went on to hit back after losing the first set 6-2. He went 6-0 up and at time of writing is on the verge of a 6-2 win having lost only two games since the opening set.
A dominant win but one that hauls hawkeye and line calling into the spotlight once more as Zverev very much was the one that benefited in the end.
The first fracas of the season of sorts and it is very much in keeping with the end of last season albeit with the technology falling fowl over the umpire with the latter being a topic of high debate and in Frances Tiafoe's case for instance, a sweary rant.
System fail with the electronic line calls at the Zhizhen Zhang vs Alexander Zverev match.
