With the
ATP Finals coming to a close this weekend, an interesting statistic emerged highlighting the dominance of certain top players at the event, with
Novak Djokovic leading the charge.
The World No.1 is competing at his 16th ATP Finals event, and has reached at least the semifinals in 12 of those appearances. Furthermore, the Serbian has reached the final on eight occasions, and is currently tied with Swiss Maestro
Roger Federer at six tournament titles.
Djokovic a regular fixture at the year-ending event
With Djokovic's consistency during the regular season, it comes as no surprise that the 36-year old has been a staple at the elite event. However, it was discovered that a few players were just as consistent.
Having qualified for the semifinals at this year's edition, Djokovic ensured that for the 43rd time in the last 44 years at the event, the ATP Finals semifinals will feature either himself, or one of the following tennis legends, Federer, Pete Sampras and Ivan Lendl, with the year 2001 being the only exception.
Djokovic will face World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz in a blockbuster semifinal, as the two engage in a rematch of this year's Wimbledon men's final. The Spaniard is making his debut at the event, while Djokovic hopes to capture his seventh title at the event.
