Boris
Becker stated that there is no GOAT, but
Novak Djokovic is the most successful
player of all time.
The ATP
tour has been dominated by three players in the last 20 years:
Roger Federer,
Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. There is nothing new there, but the GOAT
debate has been ongoing for years, and multiple opinions have yet to settle the
debate.
'Nole'
leads in terms of the number of Grand Slam titles with 23, followed by Rafael
Nadal with 22, and retired former player Roger Federer with 20.
This time,
tennis legend
Boris Becker commented on the lengthy discussion:
"Novak
Djokovic, you did it. And how you did it - with confidence, skill and style.
Biggest congrats for your record breaking 23rd Grand Slam title Roland Garros.
What an outstanding achievement, considering where you come from. With
Wimbledon calling you're surely not done yet. Keep it up and see you
soon," Becker captioned on his Instagram history.
Boris
Becker had recently congratulated Djokovic for achieving the record of 23 Grand
Slam titles with his victory at the French Open, surpassing Rafael Nadal's
previous record of 22:
"Novak
Djokovic, you did it. And how you did it - with confidence, skill and style.
Biggest congrats for your record breaking 23rd Grand Slam title Roland Garros.
What an outstanding achievement, considering where you come from. With
Wimbledon calling you're surely not done yet. Keep it up and see you
soon," Becker wrote.
The German
also responded to a question from a fan who wanted to know if he would write a
book about his experience:
“Would you
write a book on your experiences in the last 3-4 years?”
“Probably,
might be a bestseller,” captioned the former world No. 1
Djokovic
won today in the second round of Wimbledon against Jordan Thompson and
continues his journey towards an 8th title at the All England Club. In the
third round, he will face the winner of the match between Stan Wawrinka and
Argentinean Tomas Etcheverry.
