World number 14
Tommy Paul has opened up after seeing Spain’s
tennis star
Carlos Alcaraz on a late-night meal but did not find any animosity
between the two.
Both recently took part in the recently concluded ATP 1000
event in
Indian Wells. Paul was recently quoted in a report where he revealed how
Alcaraz did not show any animosity towards him when the two were present at a late-night
dinner.
"We finished late that day, but the tournament kept a
restaurant open so we could get a late-night meal,” he said. “And it was funny
— Alcaraz also showed up at the restaurant 20 minutes later. He was waving at
us, and smiling as he went upstairs.
“I remember thinking he probably had much more fun than I
did, because I had to play the next day. But also, there was no animosity from
him either way: guys at the top of their game are that way."
Paul ended up playing in the semifinal of the competition
where he was knocked out after losing to the current world number three Daniil Medvedev
with a score of 1-6, 7-6, 6-2.
On the other hand,
Alcaraz ended up lifting the title as he defeated Medvedev in the final in
straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-1.
