The US Open and USTA pledged support for Djokovic ahead of the decision which ended up being a denial of entry for Djokovic the following day.
Djokovic was waiting to see whether his petition for entering the country would be accepted. On Friday we still didn't know whether he would be allowed to enter the country in order to play at Indian Wells and Miami. The USTA pledged support for Novak on Friday by posting on the US Open Twitter account:
“Novak Djokovic is one the greatest champions our sport has ever seen. The USTA and US Open are hopeful that Novak is successful in his petition to enter the country, and that the fans will be able to see him back in action at Indian Wells and Miami.”
Just several hours later the decision was made- Djokovic is not being allowed to enter the country effectively shutting down any hope of playing at those two events. He will play at the US Open cause restrictions will be lifted by fall. The Serbian will now look forward to the clay season with Monte-Carlo as the first big event he'll likely play.
