Germany’s
Alexander Zverev has taken an interesting route
after winning the
Paris Masters. The 27-year-old secured the ATP 1000 title in
the French capital after beating local boy Ugo Humbert in a one-sided final in
straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday.
Right after lifting the title, Zverev was back in training
mode as he trained in the indoor arena in Paris. Talking to the media after
that as quoted by English media outlet Daily Express, the new world number two
revealed that he is working on something and that he is very happy with the
results.
“Yeah, I was,” he replied when asked whether he was training
right after winning the title in Paris. “Yeah, I just finished. For me, the
result, it's great. I'm extremely satisfied. I'm happy about it. But as I said
in the beginning of the week, for me I want to improve some things for me to
achieve my really big goals. I'm happy with the final. I'm happy with the
tournament. Of course I'm sitting here with the trophy from a Masters 1000
event, but there are still some things I want to improve, and this is a process
of a few months, and I'm improving for next year already hopefully. It's not
about the match. It's not about today, not about yesterday, it's not to improve
for tomorrow.
Zverev is having an impressive season. His title on Sunday was
his second this year. Earlier, he lifted the Rome Masters after beating Chile’s
Nicolas Jarry in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 7-5. Other than
that, Zverev had an impressive Grand Slam season as well. His best outing came
in the French Open where he finished as the runner-up after losing to Spain’s
Carlos Alcaraz in a five-set thriller with a score of 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
