Alex de Minaur is surging quickly towards the top five in the world after seeing off Daniel Altmaier in the Quarter-Finals of the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam in a 6-1, 6-4 win.

De Minaur is now 29-1 in his last 30 matches vs players outside the top 30. He is up to World No.7 passing Daniil Medvedev and will pass Novak Djokovic with one more win.

It is a 26th career semi-final for De Minaur. He is also tied with Jannik Sinner for the most ATP 500 wins since 2023 with 32 overall having taken that mark during this latest win.

After a pretty tight start, De Minaur managed to take control. He broke at 3-1 and consolidated before breaking again in a superb start to the tie going 5-1 up. He also turned around a 40-15 deficit and saved two break points to claim the set.

The second set saw De Minaur lead only just 3-2 before being broken himself but after Altmaier had break points at 4-3 up that could've gleamed a chance to win the set, De MInaur again flipped the script.

He made it 5-4 on his third break point before surging towards the finishing line. Next up is the winner of the game currently ongoing between Stefanos Tsitsipas and qualifier Mattia Bellucci.

In the other half, it is Andrey Rublev v Hubert Hurkacz and Carlos Alcaraz v Pedro Martinez. As a result we will likely get Alcaraz v De Minaur in the final. The Aussie though with Alcaraz not flying on all cylinders and the history of De Minaur in Rotterdam could be a sneaky favourite.

For the rest of the tournament he will surely look to finally seal the title which has eluded him and he has come so close to winning over the last few years.
