Nick Kyrgios has recently reflected on his past experiences with mental health, and re-iterated how important it can be to support others.
2022 Wimbledon finalist Kyrgios featured on Netflix's docu-series 'Break Point' earlier this year, which followed the lives of some top-ranked tennis players as they traveled to the Grand Slams and various ATP and WTA tournaments.
In the series, the Australian shared the fact that he had experienced dark thoughts in the past, including thoughts of ending his life. Since then, he has been advocating for mental health awareness.
Recently, the 28-year-old took to Instagram to reflect on the past state of his mental health and expressed his appreciation for everyone who supported him. He also said that he now considers every day to be a blessing.
"I look back on the days when all I had were dark thoughts... I appreciate everyone who stood by me in that period... every single day I have now is a blessing," he wrote.
Kyrgios also emphasized that any kind of help, no matter how small, that someone offers another person can have a huge positive impact.
"Let this be a reminder, something small you do for someone, can change their life," he added.
The former world No. 11 has been forced to miss most of this season due to various injuries. Most recently, he withdrew from the upcoming US Open due to a wrist injury, but is hoping to return to the court soon.
