Jessica Pegula shared a hilarious response to being asked to address the Buffalo Bills NFL team owned by her billionaire parents while attending their practice session.
World No. 3 Pegula has had a successful run so far on the North American swing. The 29-year-old won the Omnium Banque Nationale
Canadian Open earlier this month, defeating Liudmila Samsonova 6-1, 6-0 to claim her third
WTA title and her second victory in a WTA 1000 final.
Now, she has been exploring another sport close to her heart ahead of the upcoming
US Open, where she will enter the main draw as the third seed.
Pegula visits Buffalo Bills team owned by parents
Pegula's parents Terry and Kim took over ownership of the NFL team in 2014, and along with head coach Sean McDermott, helped the Buffalo Bills to make their first playoff appearance since 1999.
On Tuesday, August 22, Pegula visited the team's training grounds and watched a practice session.
"Honor to join the team today," she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Whilst there, the American also spoke to the team at the request of McDermott.
Following the interaction, Pegula shared a photo of her addressing the team on her Instagram story, along with a funny caption.
"When you show up to practice thinking you're just going to chill then Sean tells you to talk to the team - so you talk to the team," she wrote.
Pegula will now be preparing to try and achieve a deep run at the US Open, and potentially clinch her first Grand Slam title. So far, she is yet to progress past the quarterfinals in singles at any major, although she made the final of the 2022 French Open in women's doubles with her partner Coco Gauff.
