Naomi Osaka will only play singles at the 2020 Tokyo
Olympic Games, it has been confirmed ahead of the mixed doubles deadline.
Play starts early next week in the mixed doubles with Novak Djokovic rumoured to be teaming with Nina Stojanovic but the big name on the women's side of the draw will not be involved on home soil.
The Japan team has a guaranteed place in the mixed doubles due to being a home nation but at least on the part of Osaka, she has not taken it.
This after the potential for the two leading lights in Japanese tennis in Osaka and Kei Nishikori to team with Ben McLachlan and Taro Daniel also in Japan.
But instead, it will just be the singles starting with Saisai Zheng which has been put forward a day due to her role in the Opening Ceremony.
