Elena Rybakina is now the first defending champion to reach the 4th round of Wimbledon since Serena Williams. Icons only.
The second week begins of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships with the remaining Last 16 ties on the slate with the schedule now confirmed for Monday July 10.
TennisUpToDate as ever will preview the action with a top schedule of Centre Court action in particular at the All England Lawn and Tennis Club.
Many of the main title contenders will play on Monday all starting with the defending Women's Champion in Elena Rybakina.
After starting the tournament not 100% and the question was if she'd even get there, she has made light work of giant killers Shelby Rogers and Alize Cornet as well as Brit hope, Katie Boulter.
Her biggest opposition next will be Beatriz Haddad Maia, a proficient grass court player who herself battled injury pre tournament and has produced when it matters most.
She downed Sorana Cirstea to reach this point and unlike the Romanian who she overturned a poor record against, it is positive against Rybakina.
The Brazilian has a 2-0 lead on their Head to Head but on clay and hard court. Albeit with grass likely her best surface so an interesting complexion.
Speaking of being back, the same can be said for Matteo Berrettini who has shone again at Wimbledon after being in the tennis doldrums of sorts for most of the season.
He took down Alexander Zverev and now has Carlos Alcaraz in his sights. Given his grass-court prowess, the Italian would've been the favorite in the previous years but roles are now reversed.
In terms of previous meetings, Berrettini only has one win with a thrilling Australian Open win meaning he does it when it matters most and it could be the toughest yet for Alcaraz.
In between that are two players who could take favourite spots for the Women's title in two-time champion Petra Kvitova and the superb Ons Jabeur.
Both super watchable on the grass and bound to be an incredible match. Kvitova will aim to do the unthinkable and win a third title, while for Jabeur, it is a first Grand Slam and writing the wrongs of last year.
But it isn't only those matches with three more that could easily find their way onto Centre Court.
Daniil Medvedev begins against Jiri Lehecka, while Aryna Sabalenka will face grass court specialist, Ekaterina Alexandrova in her biggest test.
Finally Grigor Dimitrov gets to battle the Danish rising star, Holger Rune in a match that will likely be worth the ticket price on Court One alone.
Other clashes on outside courts include Mirra Andreeva - Madison Keys and Christopher Eubanks - Stefanos Tsitsipas. What a start to the second week.
