Until next year @Wimbledon 💚
Appearing on Part Two of Netflix Break Point is the closest that Ajla Tomljanovic has come to a tennis court all season and that will continue into Wimbledon.
The Aussie ace has withdrawn from the tournament in a third failed Grand Slam comeback bid of the season.
At the start of the season, she had to withdraw from the Australian Open due to a knee problem and had surgery subsequently and seemingly was on course to return at Roland Garros.
But that also came too soon. Slated to play Nottingham in the first week of the grass court season, it seemed that the writing was on the wall that she would not play Wimbledon with another withdrawal.
Currently sitting at World No.59, she will drop further with a Quarter-Final run being cancelled out from last year and will head into the US Open also needing to defend the same outcome after a breakout season in 2022.
"After experiencing many special emotions and memories in Wimbledon over the last few years, I had very high hopes of making my return there this year. Unfortunately, my knee is still asking for just a bit more time before I can have full confidence in it in order to play at my best level," said Tomljanovic.
"Really eager to get back out there but this year Wimbledon came a bit sooner than I was ready for. I know it will be worth the wait and am already looking forward for next year."
Until next year @Wimbledon 💚
