The city of Tokyo will once again play host to a WTA event this summer, as stars descend upon the land of the rising sun for the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, Japan.
A WTA 500 event, the Tokyo Open was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka lifted the title most recently in 2019, and the Japanese superstar is scheduled to compete at her home event.
In addition to Osaka, a bevy of WTA stars will be present, including several ranked in the world's Top 10. World No.4 Paula Badosa and No.6 Aryna Sabalenka will be bringing some firepower to the tournament, as well as the in-form Daria Kasatkina and always dangerous two-time Major champion Garbine Muguruza.
The resurgent Caroline Garcia is scheduled to compete in Tokyo, as is the rising Brazilian star Beatriz Haddad Maia. Last year's Wimbledon runner-up Karolina Pliskova will be present, in addition to the versatile Liudmila Samsonova.
The Tokyo Open runs from September 19-25 2022, a week after the conclusion of the US Open. Below is the list of entrants.
