Bianca Andreescu has been in many ways the story of the past two weeks at the US Open with the 19-year old Canadian showing how good she is backing up the promise that was shown at the Rogers Cup recently.
Now she is into uncharted territory in a Grand Slam as she gets set for her first semi-final and the same can be said for her opponent no.13 seed Belinda Bencic; with a potential rematch of the match that never really happened between her and Serena Williams potentially on the cards.
Bencic despite the form of Andreescu has gone under the radar this week; she deserves her place in the last four after a straight sets victory over Donna Vekic; has shown excellent form at times this year.
Andreescu spoke about Bencic in the run up to their clash and admitted that for her despite it being their first meeting they have practised together before and sees her aggression and serve as two main points of her game.
"I have practiced with [Bencic] once, actually in Toronto," said Andreescu. "I found that she takes the ball really early. She likes to be very aggressive. She has a very good serve. She moves pretty well, too. So I'm going to do my best to just focus on myself mainly; just keep doing what I'm doing, because I think my game is throwing off a lot of players."
Andreescu who will head into the top 10 in the World Rankings for the first time come what may on Monday; said that anyone can win the tournament at this point and that she isn't taking Bencic lightly.
"At this point I think anyone can win the tournament," Andreescu stated. "The other semifinalists are incredible athletes, tennis players. So I know it's not going to be easy tomorrow, and if I win tomorrow, in the finals, as well. So I'm just going to take in this moment now."
What dreams are made of
Bencic spoke herself after defeating Donna Vekic in her Quarter-Finals; after bettering her previous best at Flushing Meadows she admitted that she has dreamt of this since being a little kid.
"I dreamed of this like a little kid so now that I'm here I'm really enjoying it," said the Swiss ace after her victory.
