Badosa admits difficulty in having relationship as a tennis player: "They will always judge you"

Paula Badosa has recently opened up about her relationship which she was hesitant to make public because of the way it becomes the main talking point.

Any public person is used to being scrutinised to a degree and for tennis players it's a daily occurrence. Every time they win a match it's a high and every time they lose a match it's a low. Unfortunately, the private side of things is not particularly private as it becomes a very frequent talking point.

That's why Badosa was hesitant to announce her relationship because it becomes all people talk about. Matteo Berrettini is experiencing that right now with every bad performance attributed to his relationship. On the topic, Badosa said:

"For me it was very difficult to announce this relationship. It is bad for a female athlete because they will always judge you: if you win or lose it will always be because of your relationship. You have to get used to all of this and go beyond these comments."

She also added:

"It's true I'm a tennis player, but I'm also a person. As does my partner and we both tend to take it easy."
