The 6th seeded Greek started the day in a good style for the seeded players. Sakkari did not experience any major difficulties against Alizé Cornet and advanced into quarterfinals after 87 minutes, winning 6-2, 6-4.
Later, she was followed by the 3rd seeded Czech, Petra Kvitova. The 11th woman in the WTA Ranking turned the first set after being 5-3 down and facing a setpoint. However, she was a worse player in the second set and needed to show the best performance in the third. She did so to win the match 7-6, 1-6, 6-2 and book her quarterfinal spot.
There, she will meet Ekaterina Alexandrova who was the only player on day 4 to defeat a seeded player. The Russian outplayed Donna Vekic 6-1, 7-5 after 82 minutes.
The day was finished in a big style but not happy for the home fans. The second-seeded Kiki Bertens showed the highest level against Veronika Kudermetova. The Dutch player defeated her Russian opponent 6-1, 6-2. In the next round, she will meet another Russian, Potapova.
