Emma Raducanu like going back to Mark Petchey recently is back with an old coach but a surprising old face as she looks again to recapture old glories on her return to the WTA Tour as she has reportedly reunited with old coach Andrew Richardson.
As per
The Telegraph, Richardson who is a very familiar face as he was the coach who took Raducanu to her US Open triumph was unceremoniously dumped after their out of nowhere triumph which saw Raducanu become a global megastar.
But what has always remained is that she perhaps didn't achieve her true best with Richardson and instead went for big name coaches in the immediate including Torben Beltz, Dmitry Tursunov and even Francisco Roig and in the middle of that she often drifted back to familiar faces such as Nick Cavaday and Jane O'Donoughue.
Reuniting with familiar faces
So she very much has form for returning to old faces with Petchey and Cavaday being sought again in the past year amid her splits with previous coaches. But even Petchey with whom she enjoyed the best spell of her career since then has often said in a pretty indicative sign that he won't coach Raducanu full time as it lacks job security.
He has long worked for Tennis Channel and isn't wanting to give that up. Richardson though has been working at the Ferrer Tennis Academy in La Nucia ever since and has spent time training with Raducanu last month in Spain. IMG kept it under wraps as she has kept withdrawing from tournaments amid a long term viral illness since reaching the Cluj final in March.
Since Tuesday, Raducanu has been back in London training at the National Tennis Centre in south-west London. It is unknown whether she will play in Rome albeit she is listed to practice with Eva Lys going into the new week so it is presumed that she will be playing or at least travelling.
