Mirra Andreeva is set to compete in the
Madrid Open singles final against Marta Kostyuk. This is a huge achievement as she looks to seal a third WTA 1000 title. However, that is not it. She will also come back on Sunday to partner with
Diana Shnaider to clash for the
doubles title.
It could be a hugely incredible achievement for Andreeva. The pair have enjoyed a lot of success alongside each other, including winning the Miami Open title last year together, added to the silver medal collected at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Andreeva has played alongside a number of doubles partners in 2026. This includes Ekaterina Alexandrova and Victoria Mboko, but Shnaider is the main port of call.
The Russian duo are yet to drop a set in this tournament but have their biggest challenge coming up. Their most notable win came against the number three seeds Elise Mertens and Shuai Zhang in the last-16. They took down veteran pair Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva to book a second WTA 1000 doubles final.
The points are crucial in the race to Riyadh. The duo made their debuts last year in the WTA Finals doubles event and would dearly love to return. With this being their first tournament together, they have already risen to 16th with the 650 points earned. If they win the title and clinch all 1000 points, then they will finish the week in 10th, with the top eight qualifying for the WTA Finals in November.
It will not be an easy test. The number two seeds Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend are coming off the back of winning the Sunshine double in stunning fashion. It will not be an easy test, but Shnaider, and especially Andreeva, are in blistering form.

Andreeva looking to complete the double in Madrid
Coming into this tournament, Andreeva's clay swing had already been a resounding success. She
won the title in Linz while reaching the semi-final of the Stuttgart Open. She was making up for a poor Sunshine swing, and she was eyeing up a chance to continue that momentum into the Spanish capital.
Mirra Andreeva could win both singles and double titles in Madrid Open 2026
While numerous seeds and big names fell on a regular basis, Andreeva avoided such fate. She was the only top 10 player to reach the semi-final stage, and defeated Hailey Baptiste to confirm a first WTA 1000 final on clay.
An inform Kostyuk will be her opponent in the climax match of the singles tournament. Andreeva would love to be the one on the top step ahead of her doubles final on Sunday. It will be a remarkably busy couple of days for the 19-year-old, with success around every corner she looks.
