Former World No.1, Ana Ivanovic has picked Aryna Sabalenka to retain the Madrid Open title for a second year in a row and a third time overall as she aimed to get the opinions of fans as the former faces Iga Swiatek, the World No.1 this evening.
A meeting of two of the best in the world currently in terms of ranking and form, it is a real tantalising prospect and one that is bound to thrill at the Caja Magica. But Sabalenka who has won the title twice and could get a three peat is seen as the likely winner.
"What an exciting match-up in the Madrid Open women's final," said Ivanovic. "It's going to be a really close call, but I think Aryna Sabalenka will defend her title and prevail over Iga Swiatek. Can't wait."
She also put a poll up to canvas opinion of fans before the final begins at around 18:30 CET this evening with the champion of Madrid set to be crowned.
