Danielle Collins sealed her maiden WTA 1000 title last week at the Miami Open and that momentum shows no sign of stopping.

She is into the semi-finals of the Charleston Open after an incredible win over Elise Mertens 6-3, 6-4. Everything is looking up for the American including in her personal life as she admitted. Collins spoke after the win about how she met her boyfriend, Bryan who made the trip from Boston to be there in North Carolina.

She said that she met him randomly in the UK instead of in the US in a coffee shop in London and that he didn't know anything about tennis. Collins who now moves up to at least World No.19 called this exciting and that it receives any preconceived notions.

She will retire at the end of this year, but is playing the best tennis of her life. Collins has starting a family in mind in her next tick off her list post tennis.

"Yeah, Bryan made the trip from Boston. He's had a really busy work week. We have been going out for a while now," said Collins on Tennis Channel.

"We met at a coffee shop in London so that was pretty exciting. I didn't think I would meet someone at a coffee shop. Who would have thought? Just after the tournament, Wimbledon."

"He didn't know anything about tennis, and he didn't know I was a tennis player, which was really nice. He was actually a bigger fan of golf and so he said, 'Well I really like golf. I don't really know much about tennis.' And I was like, 'Yes! That's so exciting,'" she said."Because it's fun to kind of be around someone that has interests in other things and that's not as familiar with the sport because you get to learn and grow with them and help them," she added.

Danielle Collins continues to amaze in her final year on tour! She is now the 3rd highest ranked American woman, behind Gauff (World No. 3) and Pegula (World No. 5). 🇺🇸
