World number three
Paula Badosa has declared that she is fully
prepared for the upcoming
French Open as she looks to claim her maiden
Grand Slam title.
Paula Badosa had a breakthrough last year winning her maiden trophy in Belgrade and playing several good events including the 2021 Indian Wells which she won. She has managed to remain competitive and maintain her form in 2022 and achieved a career high ranking of second in the world and claimed her third WTA career title in Sydney back in January.
Ahead of
Roland Garros, Badosa spoke with Marca saying:
“I would have changed not to play a tournament on this land tour, I
won’t say which one. But I come prepared, I have worked very well. I am very prepared physically and tennis-wise. Mentally I would have liked to arrive a little calmer. But it is a Grand Slam, we all have nerves on the surface and it is the one who manages it best."
She added:
“Playing as a favorite is never easy, especially for rivals who play
with nothing to lose and raise the level more. It’s another challenge
that I’m going to have and I’m looking forward to facing it.For me it is a very emotional tournament, it means a lot. I won the
junior there, it was the first Grand Slam I went to see when I was nine
years old. I have many beautiful memories and I would very much like to
do it very well.”
