Pegula opens up about dealing with her mental health
"I let myself feel whatever I need to feel and then I’m like, okay. I need to shift the perspective and snap out of it and for me, that works," revealed Pegula. "I wouldn’t say, I have like a ton of anxiety but I think that’s also because I do keep myself busy and I like to work on things and have goals or challenges depending on if it’s tennis or if it’s off the court or if it’s something personal to me.”
The American is one of several athletes who have prioritized their mental health in recent times, with Naomi Osaka spearheading the movement while others like Rafael Nadal and Aryna Sabalenka have also opened up about their mental health struggles.
