Albeit the clay court season is a few months away, four top names are already confirmed ahead of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart taking place between 13-21 April, 2024.
These are current champion and finalists, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka as well as Emma Raducanu and home hope Angelique Kerber who will all play in the tournament which is famous for the winner also claiming a car and saw the funny moment in 2023 when Sabalenka tried to smash the windows of Swiatek's new vehicle in defeat.
“It’s fantastic that four top world stars have already committed themselves to coming,” said Tournament Director, Markus Günthardt together with his Operating Tournament Director, Anke Huber. “It’s a big compliment and a real sign of their confidence in the tournament.”
It is two years in a row that Swiatek has won Stuttgart and she will aim for a trio of wins. Kerber too will aim for a third after victories in 2015 and 2016 and has since become a mother and has made her recent return to the court at the United Cup. "I’ve missed the tournament and the fabulous crowd in the Porsche Arena," she said. "I’m looking all the more forward to competing there again."
For Sabalenka, it has been three years in a row of losing in the final so she will return with the aim of finally sealing it. While Raducanu played her last match before a long injury lay-off at this tournament, she is now back and ready to give it her best shot injury free.
