Karolina Pliskova will not play tennis in front of her home crowd after a wrist injury forced her to withdraw from the Ostrava Open next week.
The Czech player was set to continue her great season with an appearance at a home event in the Czech Republic in Ostrava but an injury derailed those plans. The Ostrava Open is a WTA 500 event that will feature a very strong field sadly without Pliskova.
The Czech player was having a great 2021 season that saw her reach several notable finals including the Wimbledon one but regrettably for Pliskova she wasn't able to win either one of those. Now her season was derailed with a sudden wrist injury that puts the rest of the year in doubt as well. Pliskova did not offer any comment on the injury.
Unfortunately, Karolina Pliskova was forced to withdraw due to a wrist injury. Get well soon, Kaja! 🙏
On the other hand, we have also a good message for Czech fans as @K_Siniakova and Tereza Martincova accepted the wild cards to the main draw! 🤩
