Sofia Kenin came back from behind once again to win a match at the
Roland Garros, this time against Ferro and in style.
Sofia Kenin has had her difficulties so far at the Roland Garros and today was her 3rd time in this event she had to come back from behind to win. This time she played against
Fiona Ferro, a native from France who looked impressive and inspired in the first set. After the initial struggles, Ferro took control of the match and won six games in a row to clinch the first set. During that run, she served better and had fewer errors and that was more than enough for her to win.
That would be the last good thing we saw Ferro in this match as Kenin went ballistic in the next two sets. First, she broke Ferro early in the 2nd set to take a 1-1 lead but Ferro came back to tie it at 1-1 immediately. Kenin then went on a 4 game mini-run to take a 5-1 lead before Ferro won her service game to make it 5-2. Kenin went on to serve out the set clinching it with 6-2. The next set was even more impressive as Kenin won it with 6-1 to clinch a quarterfinal spot at the Roland Garros.
It was a stellar display from Kenin who continues to have opening set issues which she talked about in her post-match conference. She prefers her wins without any drama but as long as she keeps winning she will be content with the results no matter how they come.
