A total of 5 seeded players will appear in quarterfinals in Doha as we will take a look on schedule of play. Those include Barty, Bencic, Kvitova, Sabalenka, and Muguruza. Players will be looking forward to adding more points to WTA Ranking which will help them improve their position.
The night of quality matchups will begin with a duel between Saisai Zheng and Aryna Sabalenka. The Chinese player defeated no. 12 Vondrousova and no. 7 Bertens from the tournament in Doha and she will be attempting to outplay another seeded player. On the other hand, Sabalenka is playing in a good form in recent weeks when only Simona Halep defeated her in Dubai.
In the second match, 2-time Grand Slam champion and former world number 2, Svetlana Kuznetsova will meet Belinda Bencic. Despite the young age of the Swiss, both players met already 4 times on the WTA tour and it was Bencic who was victorious 3 times out of 4 meetings.
Ons Jabeur who defeated world number 3, Karolina Pliskova in the previous round, will face another Czech player. This time, it will be no. 8 in Doha, Petra Kvitova. It will be the 3rd Czech opponent for the Tunisian at Qatar Open as she defeated also Siniakova in the first round. Kvitova and Jabeur met only once when the Czech sent Jabeur home from 2019 Wimbledon in straight sets.
The most interesting match of the night will be definitely the one between first-seeded Ashleigh Barty and no. 11 Garbine Muguruza. It is first Barty's tournament since the Australian Open where Mugurza reached the final. Barty leads 2-1 in H2H statistics against Muguruza and any of the women can win this match to reach the semifinal in Doha.
