Russia’s young tennis star
Mirra Andreeva has revealed her
goal for the rest of the year.
The 16-year-old has been very impressive in her very short
career at the highest level and is coming after an impressive Wimbledon 2023.
Andreeva was quoted in a report recently where she stated
that her goal is not to cement her spot in the top 50 women players.
"At the beginning of the year, I wanted to be in the
top 70,” she said. “But now I'm 66 so one goal is done. But till the end of the
year, maybe to be in the top 50.
"If I can do it, it would be amazing for me for
sure, but If not, I have maybe 20 more years to do that. So I think I will get
a chance to be top 50."
The Krasnoyarsk-born was eventually knocked out of the third
Grand Slam of the year after losing to America’s
Madison Keys with a score of
6-3, 7-6, 6-2.
Andreeva also recently took part in the Swiss Open where she
was knocked out of the competition after losing to Anna Bondár of Hungary in
the second round with a score of 7-6, 6-3.
