Naomi Osaka has confirmed she will hold press conferences at the Tokyo
Olympic Games in a talk with Japan's national broadcaster.
Naomi Osaka created some controversy at the Roland Garros when she refused to take part in post-match press conferences. The Japanese player later withdrew from the event due to not wanting to a be distraction. The reason was named as her mental health which has been badly affected by dealing with the media.
She later withdrew from Wimbledon but confirmed she would represent Japan at the Tokyo Olympic Games. In a recent talk with Japan's national broadcaster NHK she said:
“I am preparing myself little by little so I can be at the top of my game for the Olympics. Since getting the attention of the world, I’ve always had bouts of anxiety. This is especially the case in the lead up to big
competitions.”
The player also confirmed she would be holding press conferences at the event while also looking after her mental health. She also underlined her excitement of playing in front of her native fans at the Olympics which start on July 23rd.
