Tennis in Nottingham to go ahead as normal today despite the major incident in the town centre. A tournament spokesperson said: "Play will start at 11am as normal. Spectators are being asked to allow extra time to travel to the site."
The Nottingham Open is taking place this week on both the WTA and ATP Challenger Tours with Maria Sakkari, Beatriz Haddad Maia and Anhelina Kalinina among the top names alongside Andy Murray on the Challenger side.
But there were fears that it wouldn't go ahead on Tuesday after a major incident was declared in the city centre with the city on high alert. The police arrested a 31-year-old man for murder after officers were called to Ilkeston Road at 4am where two people were found dead in the street.
Another incident was called in which a van had apparently attempted to run over three people and another man had also been found dead.
The organisers that have vowed that the event will continue. This likely helped by it taking place out of town towards nearby Beeston instead of city centre Nottingham which remains closed down.
