Although Emma Raducanu has had an amazing year by anyone's standards, the British teenager could cap it off by making her debut at the season-ending WTA Finals.
Ranked World No.338 when she received her wildcard entry to Wimbledon in June, the 18-year old surprised tennis fans by making it to the fourth round. A few weeks later, Raducanu shocked the world by winning the US Open singles title as a qualifier.
Due to her spectacular performance, the Brit rose in the WTA Rankings to World No.22. She has a chance to go even further should she make a solid run at the BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells, a WTA 1000 event that takes place in October.
Not only would she break into the Top 20, but she could also qualify for the WTA Finals, as she currently sits at 14th place with 2282 points. Raducanu's chances of qualifying increase due to the fact that Ashleigh Barty may not compete at the event, which has been moved to Guadalajara, Mexico. Furthermore, Naomi Osaka has raised doubts about her season outlook after withdrawing from Indian Wells. With both ladies possibly withdrawing, Raducanu could find herself competing for one of the eight spots available at the event.
