Elena
Rybakina will be part of the top-3 for the first time after
Roland Garros.
The Kazakh
player has been one of the most consistent performers on the tour in the past
year, alongside Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka. Rybakina had to withdraw in the
third round of the 2023
French Open before her match against Sara Sorribes
Tormo due to a respiratory illness, despite being one of the top contenders,
especially after winning the Rome Open.
Following
the disappointment in France, with most of the results already determined,
Rybakina will become part of the top-3 for the first time, as yesterday Beatriz
Haddad Maia's victory over Ons Jabeur was confirmed.
Rybakina
was greatly affected by Wimbledon's cancellation, where she was the defending
champion, which delayed her progress in the rankings and her entry into the
top-3.
Her
excellent year has placed her second in the race to the WTA Finals, as she was
also the champion of the BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells and a finalist in the
Miami Open and Australian Open.
