One of the main storylines from the 2024 United Cup was the return of Angelique Kerber with the multiple time Grand Slam champion and former World No.1 straight into representing Germany at the United Cup in her comeback after becoming a mother.
Kerber won one singles match all week against Ajla Tomljanovic, but got valuable court time playing every women's singles tie including against Iga Swiatek and also getting the first chance to team with Alexander Zverev ahead of a potential Olympic Games dream team. But in winning the title for Germany, it also marked a title on her return and in her eyes, the perfect comeback.

Despite Iga Swiatek winning the United Cup MVP too, special praise was reserved for Alexander Zverev her teammate who she said was her player of the tournament and that they wouldn't be there without his brilliance. He anchored Germany to victory amid playing multiple matches a day and heavily cramping after beating Hubert Hurkacz.
“For me, this is the perfect comeback, to be honest. First I’d like to say thank you to team Poland. I’m part Polish. Congrats on a great week. I wish you all a great week in Melbourne. My team.. thank you guys," she said post final.
"It was a great comeback from me. It feels so great being on court again. Especially starting with a team event… of course Torben, thank you for being our team captain. Sascha, you’re my player of the tournament. Without you, we wouldn’t be here. Especially today. We always played great together in team events. You’re actually my hero this week. Great to have you on my side.”
Not now playing Adelaide International, Kerber will now set her sights on the Australian Open and a return to a Grand Slam as her next move. But signs are certainly there that in time, she could return to her best and what's better than a title to start that off.
