Aryna Sabalenka seems to be on her way slowly but surely into claiming the Madrid Open title but in her pursuit to win every point, she perhaps made a mess up of a fundamental.
Sabalenka returned to Gauff but likely in a move of muscle memory didn't realise she had dropped her racquet mid point.
Gauff dinked it over the net and Sabalenka ran to it but didn't have her racquet in her hand meaning a hilarious situation where she couldn't return the point no matter what.
But despite that she is now on the verge of victory and picking up yet another Madrid title.
